Hi, fellow lovers of the green and flowery! My special paparazzi was out and about at your beautiful gardens this year and we posted some very nice pictures on our blog, SHARE OUR GARDEN today. Thanks for a wonderful experience and all who worked so hard to bring beauty to our lives. The poem at the opening of today's blog is dedicated to her.

A Thank You to "Holly" !

For the past three years a very nice attractive lady named Holly has come to view my garden on 3rd St. in Long Beach, and each time she has brought me photo's she's taken. This year was no exception and she brought me two really nice photo's.
Holly: I don't know your last name or where you live but wish to thank you so much for your kindness. It is VERY MUCH appreciated and I hope you're reading this !!! My bad for not ever getting your last name or address to thank you privately. I also didn't want to "pry" by asking such for such information.
Again, Thank You so much for the superb photo's and for taking the time to get them to me as well as being a faithful visitor to my garden !!! You're a doll !

2012 Proceeds

Be proud. Be very proud. With 46/46 gardens reporting, the total so far is

$25,892.92

as of Friday morning, 5/11.

That's about $1,400. more than last year. A few donations are trickling in by mail and web site. Give yourselves a round of applesauce er apploosa um clapping. And please remember that the cause is better served quietly than to go around braggin'. Shhhh...

2009 Tour

For those of you who have never been a "host gardener" and want to be, but are perhaps nervous about doing it, JUST DO IT !

It's not a contest, and you'll meet a LOT of great people. As Sheri says, "Build it and they will come".

I highly reccommend anyone who's considering to go ahead and sign up. It's a great experience and for a great cause. People love to see gardens...and this tour has gardens to fit every style and taste.

Well ? What are you waiting for ???

Roses

So, what do we see when we go to all these beautiful gardens on the tour? New plants we just 'have' to have for our own gardens!!

I saw a climbing rose that I would love to buy for my garden. I saw it at a home in Seal Beach. It is a yellow Graham Thomas. While I was looking at it and saying I wanted one of them, a nice gentleman told me of a place in either N. Long Beach or Carson area to get some affordable roses right now. I didn't have a chance to write it down and now I can't remember the name of the place at all. Can anyone help on where to purchase a nice climber at this time?

To all the tour hosts, thank you so much for sharing the love of your gardens with everyone. I truly enjoyed myself both days.

2008 Tour Was Just Amazing

We had the most amazing two days in our garden. MLH Tour guests are truly the greatest. I talked nonstop through two full days to a constant stream of people, even on our "off" day on Saturday. Someone drove in from Bishop--and (I think) met her goal to see every "new" garden this year. There were people from Hawaii, from Nevada, from Riverside and San Bernardino and Encinitas. And, of course, our long-time local friends turned out in droves. I heard nothing but encomiums of praise and appreciation for all our hosts' hard work, for the quality of the gardens, and for the experience in general. (The only complaints I heard were from my feet. I have GOT to remember to stay on the grass next year!) Thank you everyone who stopped in to say hello and to see how things have changed in Flo's garden this year. Won't you please weigh in, hosts and guests, to tell your stories of our Big Weekend?

Are children welcome on the tour?

Hi. I just found out about the tour through an article in the OC register.
Are young children welcome? (with their parents of course)
My son is 2 1/2 and he might try to pick a flower by accident. I wouldn't want to upset anyone by bringing him.
Also, do you just go up to someone's house and start walking around in their backyard? I would really like to see the gardens, but I just don't know the proper way to do it.

Peter's Shining Star in Diamond Bar

SATURDAY: Peter’s lovely garden in Diamond Bar has been a favorite of the MLHMGT tour guests in years past, but it's been several years since we had the chance to welcome him back. Anticipation! Excitement!! Fanfare!!! Visitors have often come away marveling at Peter’s wonderful ability to place his plantings so that they look both unplanned and perfectly balanced. Do make the drive—you won’t be disappointed.
